Position Summary
Texas Oncology is looking for a Nurse Practitioner to join our team! This position is for the Grapevine location, one of the 175+ sites we have across the state of Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. This is a full-time Monday Friday position with no weekends, call, or major holidays. The ideal candidate for the Nurse Practitioner will have the following background and experience: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
Minimum of five years post MSN experience in oncology or practice specialty nursing preferred.
Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment.
RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
Current state certification as Nurse Practitioner.
Current CPR certification required.
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred.
OCN (Oncology Certified Nursing) certification preferred.
AOCN preferred.
Maintain DPS and DEA licenses if prescribing.
Maintain collaborative practice agreement with sponsoring physician.


What does the Nurse Practitioner do?

The Nurse Practitioner, under supervision of the physician, provides patient care in collaborative joint practice with the physicians to patients and/or family members in the hospital setting on a regular basis, and within the practice setting as requested by physicians. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

The essential duties and responsibilities: Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for oncology patients. Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response within practice protocol; prescribes drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation.
Performs procedures as needed per licensure and per collaboration agreement; conducts patient assessments and provides physician with information prior to seeing the patient.
Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice.
Knowledgeable of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
Completes appropriate charges for patient visits.
